Potts Inn Museum
One of the best preserved stagecoach stations on the Butterfield Overland mail route between Memphis and Fort Smith is the Potts home in Pottsville Arkansas. This fine example of antebellum architecture, built in the 1850’s, occupies a large block in the town in Pottsville. The Potts family lived in this home until it was sold to Pope County in the early 1970's. It is now managed by the Pope County Historical Foundation. You will not want to miss this incredible piece of History.
The Buildings
Five log structures have been moved to the compound. One building is used to display hats and clothing collections from 1870 to modern times. Another building is used to display Indian artifacts and doll collections. The doll collections features dolls dressed in replicas of the inaugural gowns of the first ladies of Arkansas.
The barn, donated by Boyce Sinclair, displays antique farm equipment. A one room pioneer log cabin donated by the “Piney” Page Estate completes the present inventory of historic buildings.
