The U.S. government provided very little in the way of economic help to the newly freed slaves during Reconstruction, but in recent years it has been proposed that the government make reparation payments to slaves' descendants in recognition of the enormous crime of slavery.
2. Working with a partner, find out more about these proposals and how they might be implemented. Then work together to list three arguments in favor of this idea and three arguments against it. 3.
